“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1*)
One morning, my daughter and I were having coffee and donuts. She is the mother of two wonderful, energetic children. Both of us were going through challenging times in our lives. She was experiencing a painful divorce, and I had recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. We read the first verse of Hebrews chapter 11, and then my daughter shared an insight that struck me. She said:
- I think it's amazing that when we're struggling and can't see a way out, the Lord surprises us with the solution to the problem!
Three years have passed since our meeting. Today, she is married to a wonderful man who is a Christian, and I only have mild symptoms of the illness.
I often think that I have the solution to my life's struggles, and in my prayers, I try to convince the Lord to see things my way. Now I simply pray for God's will to be done in my life. And God's answer is usually more incredible than I could imagine. How great are God's faithfulness, wisdom, and strength!
