Una nuova traduzione dalle lingue originali, che trasmette il messaggio biblico in un modo conforme alle peculiarità e allo sviluppo della lingua letteraria bulgara. La suddivisione tematica in paragrafi e il ricco assortimento di note esplicative a piè di pagina sono solo una piccola parte dei vantaggi di questa traduzione biblica.
Su iniziativa delle Società Bibliche Unite (United Bible Societies), nel 1993 a Sofia fu creata una commissione per una nuova traduzione della Bibbia dai testi originali – dall'ebraico per l'Antico Testamento e dal greco per il Nuovo Testamento. Il progetto è stato realizzato da un team di traduttori esperti di linguistica biblica della Facoltà di Teologia dell'Università di Sofia "San Clemente di Ocrida" e dall'Accademia Bulgara delle Scienze.
Dopo 20 anni di intenso lavoro, alla fine del 2013 la traduzione è stata stampata e all'inizio del 2014 è stata ufficialmente presentata al pubblico.
