"The Lord loves you, and to keep the oath He swore to your ancestors, He brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments" (Deuteronomy 7:8-9).
The Lord is the only One who never disappoints (see 1 Thessalonians 5:24). From the beginning of time, His word remains true. Every prophecy is a promise that has been or will be fulfilled.
Perhaps the most significant prophecies were those concerning the Messiah (2 Samuel 7:12-16; Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2), even though no new ones were recorded in the four centuries before Christ's birth. Certainly, people wondered if the Savior would ever come. After all, four hundred years is a long period to wait. But in the fullness of time, the Lord Jesus came to reconcile humanity with God the Father. The Lord always fulfills His promises.
Knowing this, we can read the assurances of Scripture with expectation. For instance, if we know that Christ is our Savior and choose to follow Him, the Bible promises that we will be saved. We are forgiven and redeemed, and nothing can separate us from God's love (Romans 8:38-39). Moreover, we can trust that He will provide everything needed to accomplish His purposes for us.
Consider God's faithfulness throughout history and in your life, and be confident in your heart that He will be faithful in the future too. As we obey Him, we will learn to trust that He will accomplish everything He has promised.
