How do we react to the storm?

How do we react to the storm?
How do we react to the storm?

“We have no power to face this vast multitude that is coming against us, and we do not know what to do. Our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12*).

Imagine a backyard party where all the guests are having fun, but suddenly the wind picks up. The sky darkens, and the scent of rain fills the air. People rush to get inside. Just as the last person enters, the storm strikes. A group marvels at the sight of lightning outside. Others huddle together or cover their ears with their hands. Some jump with every thunderclap. One group chatting seems oblivious to the weather. Isn't this a depiction of the different reactions people have when life’s storms come?

When it comes to the cataclysms we face, our reactions can have a significant impact. Some people react correctly and come out stronger, while others are crushed by the challenge.

What causes our reactions to differ is our view of God. If we see Him as our loving Father, we will understand that He has the best possible plan for our lives. But if we think He is hindering the goals we've set for ourselves or only wants to punish us, we might miss the blessing intended for us.

Life's storms are inevitable (John 16:33). When such danger comes, the wisest thing we can do is to cry out to the Lord Jesus and trust Him to guide us through it.
