"Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as for the Lord, not for people. Knowing that from the Lord you will receive an inheritance as a reward, because you serve the Lord Christ." (Col. 3:23-24).
Every profession has elements that create tension or moments that seem unsatisfying. Even though the routine remains the same, the good news is that our mindset can change. If we choose to work as if the Lord Himself is our employer, everything will be different.
Today's biblical passage tells us: "Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as for the Lord, not for people... because you serve the Lord Christ."
When we accept our work as an extension of our service to God, our attitude changes. The desire to please Him will motivate us to give our best, inevitably leading to greater satisfaction and gratitude (Col. 3:17). Work can be challenging, stressful, or boring, but we can have inner peace regardless of the circumstances.
The heart of a servant can influence other employees. When a person works with an attitude of kindness, goodness, and humility, it draws the attention of colleagues and, in turn, opens up opportunities to serve the people we spend hours with every day.
The reward for good work can come in various forms, including personal satisfaction and opportunities to reflect Christ to others, as well as knowing that our efforts bring joy to our heavenly Father.
