In Search of the Savior

In Search of the Savior
In Search of the Savior

"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:20*).

Sometimes in life I suffer from the problems and pain surrounding me—family disputes, mental issues, illness, anger, guilt, or doubts. In these moments, I desperately seek God, worrying that I have lost my connection to the Savior. The more I focus on the problem, the more distant God’s love for me seems. Sometimes I even have the feeling that the Lord simply does not care about my pain.

Then I remember moments when I find "lost" glasses on my head or some "missing" item on my lap and feel foolish. There was no need to panic, because what I thought was lost was actually with me. It is the same with my Savior. I had not lost Him. I took a deep breath and refocused on God.

In His final words to His followers, Christ tells them He will be with them, and He remains with us today.

Through the Holy Spirit, our Savior will be with us to the end. I may not feel His physical presence, but His Spirit comforts my wounded heart, assuring me there is nothing to fear. So now, when tempted to doubt Christ’s presence, I remind myself that He lives in my heart.
