“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, help you, and uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10*).
When we found out I was pregnant, my husband and I were scared. Previous pregnancies had ended in miscarriage, and the last time I had an ectopic pregnancy. Given my history, my doctor immediately prescribed hormonal supplements. My husband insisted we get them before returning home. He didn’t want to take any chances.
As soon as we got home, I lay down, frightened and with tears in my eyes. I prayed to the Lord that I would be able to carry the baby this time. I thought I would feel better after praying, but nothing changed. So I searched for a Scripture passage to help me overcome my fear. I desperately needed reassurance from God. That’s when I stumbled upon Isaiah 41:10. I decided I would read and meditate on this verse every day. I wrote it on sticky notes, which I placed on the walls, and set it as the wallpaper on my phone display.
Over time, I began to believe what I was reading. I trusted that the Lord would be with me during the pregnancy, regardless of the outcome. To exercise my faith, I started buying baby products. By that time, I had no doubt that I would hold my baby in my arms. I had a smooth pregnancy and gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
