Life in the present

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24*)

To make the most of the present moment, which will never return, we must choose to live in it. All too often we are filled with regret for the past or worry about the future, missing the opportunity that exists here and now.

This day is unique. This is the day the Lord has made. Before our eyes opened this morning, God went before us to fill every part of the day. He has seen it from beginning to end and has planned His purposes for us. Since we are His children, we can trust Him and rejoice in this day.

Fill the day with prayer. Prayer is more than a command; it is a conversation with God, who holds the world in His hand. When we pray, we reach into the heavens and tear down strongholds. We approach the throne and move mountains. Our prayers help to shape the destiny of those we love. We bring down the giants of fear.

Prayer in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ sets in motion the blessings God has given in our lives. It saturates our souls with peace that surpasses our understanding. It fills us with faith to face every challenge. It nurtures our hope.

Experience the miracle of the present moment. Rejoice in it. Make it meaningful.

For reflection: Do we realize that the present moment is unique and will not repeat? What thoughts fill us—do we regret the past, worry about the future, or live in the present, making it meaningful?
