More than enough

More than enough
More than enough

"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." (Matt., ch. 6, v. 24*).

It's not every day that you can receive a supply of fresh fish at your doorstep. But there it was. I was concerned that I didn't have enough finances, but through these fish, it seemed as if God was saying to me, "Do you see? I can take care of your needs, so why are you worried?"

This reminded me of Matthew, ch. 6, v. 25-34, and my mind was at ease for a while. Subsequently, new worries overtook me. Then God directed me to a deeper truth: I was placing my trust in money instead of Him.

In Matthew, ch. 6, v. 24, the Lord Jesus says, "No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money." At first, I couldn't accept that money had become my master, but after reflecting on it, I realized it was true. Even though I had a stable job and some savings, I was still worried. I had focused on money, losing sight of who God is and how He has always cared for me.

I am grateful that the Lord redirected my focus back to Himself and reminded me of His generous care (see Matt., ch. 7, v. 11). God is my reward, my everything (see Gen., ch. 15, v. 1). And He is more than enough.
