"May mercy and truth not abandon you. Bind the laws about them around your neck, write them on your heart, and you will find favor and good understanding before God and people. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will straighten your paths" (Prov., ch. 3, vv. 3-6*).
Since God is all-powerful, why don't more people experience supernatural healing? There are several reasons for this. Sometimes we do not turn to Him. Other times, we may pray with the wrong motives or lack faith. And there is another reason we don't like to hear: God may choose not to heal us.
Remember Apostle Paul, who prayed to God three times to remove his "thorn" (2 Cor., ch. 12, vv. 7-8). Yet, it remained. We can learn from his reaction—he did not question God's authority nor complain. Instead, Apostle Paul, who understood that God's power could manifest in his weakness, chose to trust in the Lord.
We too can trust in our Father that all things work together for the good of His children (Rom., ch. 8, v. 28). In fact, character is usually built in times of suffering, loss, and pain. Though the trial brings discomfort, we can have hope and even joy because of what God accomplishes through this painful experience.
Ultimately, God will glorify His name and bring good to His children. There are times when this involves miraculous healing, but often He works within us by allowing us to go through difficulties. Just like silver and gold, our hearts are purified in the fiery furnace of trials. Thank God, we can trust in His plan and His love.
