"Not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, perseverance – character, and character – hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (Romans 5:3-5*).
When I was little, I didn't have a proper sense of time. While traveling by car, I often asked my parents, "Are we there yet?" It didn't matter whether we were going to the end of the street or somewhere far away. I was so excited to reach the destination that I didn't enjoy the journey itself.
We often ask God the same question: "Are we there yet?" We want to know when we will arrive at the desired place. The journey may seem long. Sometimes it's tedious. It can be difficult or exhausting. And it might be painful. But it is precisely in the process of the journey that the Lord builds our character. Every day is a gift from God in which we can commune with our Creator and discover the purposes He has for us.
Sometimes it is hard for us to continue, but God builds and strengthens us along the way. There is no need to rush. We can trust in God's timing and learn to appreciate every step of the way.
