“The word of God is living and active” (Hebrews 4:12*).
A few years ago, my son sent me the book “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau. Over time, I managed to read it, but with great effort. Then, in May, my son visited me. We went to Walden Pond and walked through the woods (more precisely, he pushed me in my wheelchair) to immerse ourselves in the atmosphere Thoreau describes. We visited a replica of his cabin, not missing the opportunity to notice its simplicity against the backdrop of the majestic trees. When we returned home, I opened "Walden" again. This time, the book seemed to come alive before me.
Through this experience, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that similarly, when I opened the Bible before and tried to read it, it felt unfamiliar, distant, and difficult to understand. One day, I accepted Christ in my heart as my Savior. The next time I picked up my Bible to read, it came alive before my eyes and for decades now, it has been the bread of life for me. The true experience of Scripture is possible when we personally know the Lord Jesus, who Himself is the word of God.
