"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end," says the Lord God, who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty (Rev., ch. 1, v. 18*).
It is highly likely that Apostle John was the last living apostle when he was sent into exile on the island of Patmos. He was taken there to live as a prisoner, "for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ" (Rev., ch. 1, v. 9*). Although all earthly doors were already closed for Apostle John, the Lord opened a door to heaven before him. The Apostle received incredible visions of the exalted Christ, whose hair was "white as white wool" (v. 14*), and whose face shone "like the sun in its full strength" (v. 16*). The eyes of the Lord Jesus were "like a fiery flame" (v. 14*), and His feet were "like bronze refined in a furnace" (v. 15*). His voice was "like the sound of rushing waters" (v. 15*), and from His mouth came a double-edged sword.
The Apostle fell at Christ's feet as if dead, but then heard these words: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One. I was dead, but behold, I am alive forever" (v. 17–18*).
The Conqueror Christ is the Lamb who was slain for us, but rose again. He triumphed over death through His resurrection. The victorious Lamb sits on the throne and reigns over heaven and earth.
