“Do not worry about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6*).
When I was a teenager, my father passed away, I wasn't admitted to university, and I was barely able to feed myself. I felt crushed and found it difficult to pray. So, I wrote a letter to God, asking my Heavenly Father to intervene. I read it several times, tucked it into an envelope, and forgot about it. It seemed naive and foolish, and I wasn't sure the Lord would listen.
Years later, I found the letter and knew that God had been aware of the sorrow in my heart the whole time. Looking back, I could see the ways He had been present in my life.
Sometimes we are so overwhelmed by circumstances that we cannot express to God what we are feeling. It doesn't matter if we write, mumble, or cry in God’s presence — He listens! All we have to do is give our burdens to God and leave them in His hands. When we continue to worry after doing this, we take our burdens back. It is important to trust that God will resolve the situation in His time and in His way.
