"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them and delivers them from all their troubles" (Ps. 34:18*).
I attended the church service with a heavy heart. My father was on his deathbed, and the doctors could do nothing more for him. Tears streamed down my face, but I couldn't leave because I was sitting in the front row, where I was expecting a friend to join me. Beautiful flowers adorned the pulpit, and the sermon was inspiring. What touched me the most that day, however, was the worship, which we sang with joy and enthusiasm. These hymns filled my heart and reminded me that God knows exactly what we need.
When the service ended, there were traces of tears on my face, but I left in a much better state of mind than when I entered. I knew that whatever lay ahead for my father and me, my heavenly Father would give me strength. I decided to remain open-hearted to the experiences the Lord allows and the ways He wants to use my life.
My father is now with my mother in heaven. And God remains ever faithful. I am grateful that He is always accessible, both in our pain and in our joy.
