Do we realize how precious life is every day? Or are we too engrossed in our daily routines? And do we sometimes experience something so overwhelming that it makes us feel like we don't want to live anymore? Whatever the reason may be, it cannot be justified enough to make us give up on the miracle called “life”! The truth is, not everyone has this chance—to be alive—and a large part of those who have been given it, squander it or spend their time regretting something.
Life means potential: the potential to be useful, to do meaningful things, to understand God's will and accomplish it, to communicate with God, to develop...
One way or another, life will end one day, and everyone knows this, but few people realize it in a way that makes them reflect on how they are living.
The Lord Jesus says: "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John, ch. 10, v. 10*). He does not promise us a perfect life or a life without problems, but an abundant one: one that is full of potential to be utilized. All who have believed in Jesus Christ have received the gift of eternal life, but while we are still here on earth, we have numerous opportunities to live in the abundance that the Lord offers. It is not about earthly wealth and possessions, but about an abundance of "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control" (Galatians, ch. 5, vv. 22–23*). This is the fruit of the Spirit that God gives to all His children, to flow from them towards others.
The fact that we are born and live is a true miracle! Let us thank God for this and ask Him how to make the most of the given chance.
