Life with Purpose

Life with Purpose
Life with Purpose

"My time has come to depart. I fought the good fight, I finished the course, I kept the faith. Now awaits me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing" (2 Timothy 4:6-8*).

We all want to live a fulfilling life, but for this to become a reality, we need goals to strive towards. Few of us actually take the time to reflect on the direction we are heading. How tragic it would be to end our lives with the realization that we have followed a different path instead of God's, having engaged in the wrong battles, and found it difficult to keep our faith.

The Apostle Paul is a good example of a person who lives a fulfilling life. His goals are to know Christ, to abide in His power, to endure His suffering, and to preach the gospel (Philippians 3:10; 1 Corinthians 1:17). The Apostle aligns his goals with God's, working diligently to fulfill his calling and withstand suffering. He can face the end of his life with confidence, as he fought the good fight, finished his course, and kept his faith.

If you continue to do the same thing, the result will be the same. Do not settle for the mediocrity of an unplanned life. Take time this week to be alone with God. Then ask Him to help you set goals that will lead you to where He wants you to go. Reflect on every area of your life—personal, relational, financial, or your calling—but make your primary focus your spiritual goals.

Allow the Lord to help you change direction so that you strive towards things that align with His will. Then begin to live intentionally.
