The important lesson from history is to learn from the mistakes of our ancestors so as not to repeat them. Our society remains divided about the meaning and consequences of the events of September 9, 1944. It's interesting to note that there is some movement in the right direction. On May 5, 2000, the "Law for Declaring the Communist Regime in Bulgaria as Criminal" was published in the "State Gazette." This is the legal side. The moral side is to not allow similar crimes against humanity for any reason—ranging from restrictions of freedoms to physical violence and repression. However, the spiritual side is one level higher—to acknowledge all this before God and ask for His forgiveness.
Let us have a correct understanding of our own past. We might not be participants in it or even witnesses to the events—yet let us use today's opportunity to pray for God to forgive our nation.
Never again communism and atheism!
Never again a fight against God!
