This was announced by the United Bible Societies at the beginning of August. The organization's ambitious goal is to have the Bible's text translated into an additional 1,200 languages worldwide over the next two decades, which are spoken by nearly 600 million people.
With the latest historical record, the Bible solidifies its place as the most translated book of all time. Besides being the most translated book, the Bible is also the best-selling and most read book in the world.
According to progress.bible, in the past 30 years, Bible translations have doubled, with the Holy Scripture's text being available in just 351 languages as of 1990.
The United Bible Societies is the largest organization for the translation and distribution of biblical text in the world, with subsidiaries in 240 countries. The organization has supported and carried out nearly 75% of all complete Bible translations.
