“Therefore I tell you: do not worry about your life, what you will eat and drink, nor about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more valuable than food and the body more than clothes? 26Look at the birds, that neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you more valuable than they are?” (Matt., ch. 6, vv. 25-30*).
When we place our faith in God, we entrust every aspect of our life to our sovereign God, who wants the best for His children. Is there anything to fear when our confidence is in Him?
Faith in God does not mean that we will never experience uncertainty. But it does mean that we choose to trust that He will provide for our needs in His time and in His way. Otherwise, fear and doubts can manipulate our thoughts and lead us to make wrong choices.
Worry in itself is not a sin, but it can shake our faith. If, for example, we say to ourselves, “I know God can handle my problem, but I’m not sure if He will,” we might start to seek a solution on our own. Since it is always wise to wait on the Lord (see Lam., ch. 3, vv. 19-25), if we take matters into our own hands, we are likely to get ourselves into trouble.
The Lord sees the beginning and the end of every situation we face. He knows the reasons for our anxiety, the best way to calm our hearts, and how to turn our mourning into joy. When we let Him choose the way and the timing, the Lord will take care of the problem. He will do this without leaving us even for a moment because He loves us dearly and desires to bless us abundantly.
