Obstacles to Knowing God's Will

Obstacles to Knowing God's Will
Obstacles to Knowing God's Will

“Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern by experience what the will of God is—what is good, pleasing to Him, and perfect” (Rom., ch. 12, v. 2).

The Bible tells us that God’s will is good, pleasing, and perfect. To live in the best spiritual way, it is necessary to be aware of His plans and desires for us and then adhere to them every day. Yet there are obstacles that can stand in the way of understanding God’s intentions:

Desire for control. We are born into a fallen world. To follow God’s plan, we must give up our rights and accept His ways. Every day, we must make the choice to let Him take control of our thoughts, emotions, decisions, families, and work (Luke, ch. 9, v. 23).

Ignorance of God’s principles. Without the light of biblical guidance, we will stray from God’s plan for us (Psalm 119, v. 105).

Influence of others. People have various opinions on what we should do and how God would like us to behave. If we are not particularly careful, we will begin to conform to others. This will distance us from God’s will, as we have placed human preferences above His.

If we let ourselves be cared for by God, then our "self" will be submitted to God, our hunger for God’s word will intensify, and we will live to please Him, not people. Let’s set a goal to hand over the management of our life to the Lord.
