"But you, continue in what you have learned and have been entrusted with, knowing from whom you have learned it, since from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Tim., ch. 3, v. 14 – 17*).
The Lord desires for His children to obey Him and make right decisions, therefore He takes full responsibility for guiding us. God promises: "I will instruct you in the way you should go" (Ps. 32, v. 8). However, our life is not laid out in an instruction manual to be read on the day we were saved. Following God’s will is a daily process of trust (emphasis is ours).
We learn His will by reading His Word. There we find rules and commands that will lead us to success, as well as principles for daily application. The Bible does not describe every potential situation we may find ourselves in, but its principles prepare us to make decisions regarding any circumstance we face. Studying the Bible is the only way for a believer to discern God’s will. Today's passage states that the Scriptures can provide us with the wisdom we need to be fully equipped for the work the Lord wants us to carry out (v. 15, 17).
Our heavenly Father does not cease to oversee every "coincidence" in our lives, weaving together seemingly unrelated threads to create something beautiful. As believers, we must listen closely to understand when the Lord reveals His will to us. Pray every day to be sensitive to His ways.
