"His authority will increase, and there will be no end to peace on the throne of David, and His kingdom will be established with justice and righteousness from now and forevermore" (Isaiah 9:7*).
The holiday hustle and bustle has arrived once again. We make plans, buy gifts, attend celebrations. All of this can exhaust us—instead of experiencing peace and joy, we might feel overwhelmed because there are so many things to do. Moreover, this time of year could bring with it sad memories and loneliness. We might also feel discouraged due to unrealistic expectations or conflicts with loved ones.
How can Christ be our Prince of Peace when we feel everything but peace? To understand why the Lord is called this, we must first comprehend the meaning of this title. Christ did not come to solve all conflicts, at least not yet. One day He will return to earth and reign in a harmonious world. But He says that in this life, we will have trouble (John 16:33).
When Christ came to earth, His aim was to bring peace by reconciling us with the Father. Through His death on the cross, our debt is fully paid, and our relationship with God is restored. The Lord Jesus offers us His divine peace—an inner calm that fills our hearts and minds, regardless of circumstances.
Is your life characterized by a quiet confidence that guards your thoughts and emotions throughout the day? Try to set aside time each day to focus on Christ and allow Him to heal your heart and calm your spirit.
