Softening of the heart

Softening of the heart
Softening of the heart

Show me your ways, Lord and teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me,for you are God, my Savior. I hope in you all day long“ (Psalm  25, verses 4 – 5*).

When we regularly spend time with God and His word, His presence will fill our hearts, making us sensitive and receptive to His actions. But just like human relationships can become cold if not nurtured intentionally, our hearts can gradually harden if we do not seek communion with God. To remain soft and receptive, we must respond with obedience and in a timely manner to everything the Lord tells us to do.

If you believe that God is leading you in a certain direction, take time to deeply seek what He thinks on the matter and listen to His response. Also, avoid engaging in some substitute for what God initially called you to accomplish. It would be tragic to work hard on something you and others consider good, only to find out that your achievement was not part of God's intentions.

Resisting God’s will can be likened to putting His purposes for our lives on the shelf. This might make you feel like something is missing. There is no substitute for God's will, even when His plan appears difficult or impossible. But when we respond with trust and a heart ready to cooperate, there is no limit to what He can achieve in our lives. Therefore, take a step of obedience today and say: "Lord, I choose Your will, no matter what."
