"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 8*).
In our ever-changing world, friendships fall apart, families move, and technology evolves. If we seek security in people, positions, or possessions, we will be disappointed. Yet, we all need a place to take refuge in times of life's storms. The only true anchor for our souls is the Lord Jesus, who never changes. To find comfort in Him, we must learn who He is and how He acts. Today, we will focus on some details of His life and character.
John, chapter 1, verse 1 reveals that Christ is God from the very beginning. Fully God and fully man, He was born of a virgin, lived 33 years on earth, was crucified despite His innocence, and resurrected after three days. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life – Christ, the Son of the living God (John, chapter 14, verse 8, Matthew, chapter 16, verse 10). Our Lord fulfills a vast number of Old Testament prophecies. One such prophecy can be found in Isaiah, chapter 53. Like us, Christ experiences emotions – He weeps for the suffering and becomes angry when people commit wrongdoings in the temple. And most importantly: through His resurrection, He conquers death and lives forever.
The merciful, loving, compassionate, and holy Lord Jesus we know from Scripture is the same Messiah we can turn to today. Difficult circumstances are inevitable. Prepare for them by learning who Christ is – the only true refuge and unshakeable rock. He remains unchanged. What a wonderful Savior!
