Inspiring Kindness

Inspiring Kindness
Inspiring Kindness

“But the seed sown on good soil is the one who hears the word and understands it. This person bears fruit: one yields a hundred, another sixty, and another thirty” (Matthew 13:23*).

When I think about being fruitful for the Lord Jesus, I recall a story I once heard on the news. At one of those drive-thru payment windows, a customer spontaneously paid the bill for the next person in line—an act of genuine kindness and generosity. When the person in the next car reached the window and learned that their bill had already been paid, they were so touched that they, in turn, paid for the person behind them.

This chain of generosity extended through two hundred people. Realizing that the person ahead of them had paid for their order, each customer felt inspired to do the same for the person after them. Kindness is contagious.

I suppose the person who started this wonderful chain reaction of love has no idea of the fruit this good deed produced. This random story inspired me to obey God in faith and not worry so much about the outcome. I am confident that when we follow Christ’s command to love one another, it will bear fruit, even if we don't see it immediately.

Prayer: Dear God, help us to show spontaneous acts of love every day.
